My name is Nicholas J. Zepnick, and I am the Student Sections Committee (SSC) representative for District C. Also, I am the chair of the Student District Operating Board (SDOB) for District C. On behalf of the
Student District Operating Board, I would like to thank each of you for
your commitment and involvement in ASME. For those who may not be
familiar, the SDOB is a group of students who meet to discuss important
issues within our district. These topics include which sections are in need
of additional support, working with the professional ASME to promote
student affairs, and helping to plan the SDOB within our district. Please
watch for further updates from our SDOB regarding the SDOB and our
student website. Once again, thank you for your time and commitment.
Remember, though your involvement in ASME, you truly are “setting the
standard.
Dionna O'Daniel
University of Evansville

My name is Dionna Daniel, and I am currently a senior at the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana. At UE, I'm involved in many engineering activities. I am and have been a member of Society
of Women in Engineering (SWE) for three years, Chapter President of Engineers Without Borders (EWB), Chapter Vice President of Pi Tau Sigma, Dean's Council, and Student Christian Fellowship (SCF). This is my second year on the Aero team,
and we will be designing and constructing a ducted fan plane that will be showcased in Bowling Green Kentucky. We are currently looking for a competition that the team will be able to be vie for. I have just finished my internship with
NASA at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. There I worked on the micrometeorite plasma gun. It was used to test multi-layer insulation for cryogen tanks on propulsion equipment and systems. I really enjoy the
aerospace/aeronautical field and the biomedical engineering. I haven't quite decided on what to pursue after graduation, whether industry or graduate school.
This is my fourth year in ASME, and my second year being Vice Chair at my chapter in Evansville. I was recently appointed as the Membership Development Vice Chair of District C SDOB. I look forward in expanding
ASME's membership by getting information out to the universities whether it is by our user friendly website, interesting newsletter, or simply a visit from a friendly face. It is so exciting to be a part of a global society providing
valuable insight into a particular area and having the ability to network with experienced individuals who share your interests. This is why I want to spread the word about ASME to universities who might not have the opportunities
available during college or after graduation. Throughout the years I have come to learn that being a part of ASME have given me a great advantage as a mechanical engineer. Networking by going to conventions or seminars, participating
in design competitions, or having a mentor in the workforce has made me feel comfortable and confident in whatever I choose to pursue. I plan to visit as many universities as I possibly can to extend ASME’s opportunities and benefits while
learning from existing universities. I look forward to working with all of you, and am up for any thoughts on developing ASME's District C into an improved district.
Jerad Cole
Purdue University

Hello, my name is Jerad Cole and I am currently a senior in Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. This is my fourth year in ASME. At Purdue, I am currently the Industrial Relations
Chair. I am also involved in other organizations, including the Society of Automotive Engineers, Engineers for a Sustainable World, as well as Pi Tau Sigma. I am also a Mechanical Engineering Ambassador for Purdue. I also teach a Sophomore
level hands on class, titled How Stuff Works. I have completed four co-op terms with Toyota. Upon Graduation I plan on pursuing job opportunities in either the energy field or the automotive industry, although I still haven't ruled out
graduate school.
As the District C SDOB Newsletter Vice Chair, I am the editor for this newsletter. I would like this newsletter to serve as a connection between different school chapters. I would also like it to be
used to exchange ideas from different schools in different areas, including design, community service, and tours. As a member of the SDOB board, I would like to become more involved with ASME as a whole. I would also like to play a
role in expanding membership and involvement in other chapters, as well as the district as a whole.
I look forward to hearing feedback about the newsletter, as well as any other comments or requests for future articles.
Patrick Durnan
Saint Louis University

Hello everyone, my name is Patrick Durnan and I'm a Senior ME student at Parks College of Saint Louis University. This is my second year in ASME and I am the Chair of my student section here on campus.
At Saint Louis University, I am involved with SEDS (Students for the Exploration and Development of Space), am Risk Management Officer for Delta Sigma Phi chapter, and am on the CubeSAT team for my senior
design project. I am really interested in green engineering, space systems, and entrepreneurial engineering. These are a few areas I would like to work in once out of college.
I hope my involvement with District C SDOB will help to improve the district by expanding the membership of ASME as well as creating a user-friendly and highly useful website for the district. These two really go
hand-in-hand in this high-tech world because by having an attractive and useful website for prospective and current members to use we will hopefully see numbers rise and retention rates increase.
Over the passed two years, I have come to find that ASME can be a highly useful and beneficial organization for those of us in this technical field. Spanning from design competitions to networking and even further
to friendships, there is a huge web of knowledge and experience I wish to share with as many people as possible because I feel it is our responsibility to educate those who do not know the great benefit of ASME.
I look forward to working for all of you and would love to hear any ideas you may have for the improvement of our SDOB District C website which was just launched!
